Lawrence A. Presley is currently the Director of the Forensic Science Program at Arcadia University, Director (consultant) of the Criminalistics Department at National Medical Services, and a doctoral student at Temple University. He has served in law enforcement and forensic science for over 30 years. He holds a Bachelors degree in Biology, a Master of Science degree in Forensic Chemistry, and a Master of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. From 1972 to 1980, he served as a forensic scientist for crime laboratories in the state of Michigan. In 1980, he became a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was stationed in the Detroit, Michigan FBI field office. In the Detroit FBI Office he was assigned to organized crime and reactive squads, worked in an undercover capacity, and served as a general police instructor and bomb technician. In 1985 he was transferred to the FBI Laboratory in Washington, D.C., promoted to Supervisory Special Agent, and served as a forensic microscopist in the Hair and Fiber Unit. In 1988, he became one of the initial group of forensic DNA examiners in the FBI Laboratory Division. He received a commendation for his forensic DNA testimony in the 1993 New York City World Trade Center bombing case. In 1993, he became Unit Chief of the DNA Analysis Unit. In 1995 he was appointed the first Unit Chief of the newly created Quality Assurance Unit. In 1999, he transferred to the Training Unit at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia where he was a forensic science instructor. In 2001, he accepted the position as Director of Criminalistics at National Medical Services, Willow Grove, PA. In 2004, he accepted the Directorship at Arcadia University of their forensic science graduate program. He has been a member of the American Society of Criminology, American Board of Criminalistics [ABC] (Diplomate, Board of Directors, and Vice President), Mid-Atlantic Association of Forensic Scientists (President –1997-99), DNA Advisory Board, Technical Working Group on Forensic Science Education, American Academy of Forensic Sciences (Fellow, Section Program Chair, Secretary, and Chair-Criminalistics Section), the Accreditation Council of the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation, American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors, and the American Society for Testing and Materials.
